Classroom Rules and Expectations
1. Be in your seat and prepared to begin class when the bell rings. Sit only in your assigned seat. If you arrive late, you must have a pass.
2. Bring your notebook, necessary work and a writing implement to class each day – no locker passes will be issued.
3. All handouts are to be kept in your notebook.
4. Keep hands, feet and all objects to yourself. Be respectful of others.
5. Raise your hand and wait to be recognized before speaking. Do not speak while the teacher is speaking.
6. When working at the chalkboard, write your answer on the board and return to your seat. Do not talk or fool around in the process.
7. Do not write on desktops, walls, bulletin boards, posters, etc. You are responsible for the damage you may cause and you will replace those items.
8. Do not abuse lavatory privileges or they may be revoked. Only one student will be out of the classroom at any given time.
9. The teacher’s computer and desk are off limits. Do not riffle through papers or other belongings on the teacher’s desk.
10. Do not walk across the front of the room while class is in progress. If you need to sharpen your pencil, walk around the back. If you need to throw something away, wait until an appropriate time to do so.
**The first infraction of the above rules will result in a warning. The second infraction will result in detention.
Grading Procedure
1. Your grade is calculated as follows:
Tests, quizzes, projects. . . . . . . . . . .80%
Class participation. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 10%
Homework. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 10%
Check PowerSchool in order to stay up-to-date with your grade!!
2. A cumulative final exam will be given. It will count as 20% of your final grade.
3. Each student must keep a notebook. Notebooks will be collected and graded. This is meant to benefit the student. All notes and handouts are to be placed immediately into your notebook. This will ensure a good notebook grade, as well as help you to be organized. Organization will help you to study with greater ease.
4. Homework will be graded. Late assignments will not be accepted.
5. Copying or other forms of cheating will not be tolerated. If you are found to be cheating, you will receive a zero on that test or assignment – this includes homework. If there is writing on your desk, inform me immediately so that you are not misjudged.
6. Quizzes and tests may of written or oral format.
7. Pop quizzes may be given on occasion.
8. Projects may be assigned throughout the semester. All projects will be graded.
9. Your effort to speak Spanish in the classroom will influence your class participation grade.
10. Work missed due to absence must be made up as soon as possible. See me the day you return – do not rely on your classmates for information. Unless other arrangements are made, any work not made up within five days of your return to school will receive a zero.
